Through Gourmet Couch, we recently relished a few of our favourite dishes from Shanghai Club in ITC Grand Central, Mumbai. Ever since this lockdown and Corona happened, we have been missing delicious food from Shanghai Club, which happens to be one of our favourite Asian restaurants in Mumbai. But thanks to this concept of Gourmet Couch, we could finally relish delectable Asian food from Shanghai Club without even visiting there. The food came neatly packed in separate boxes which were carefully placed inside a main box. They also sent sachets of hand sanitizer with our order. That was a lovely gesture indeed!
Hygiene and safety measures
These measureas are followed across all ITC hotels:
- Regular temperature checks and control
- Hygienically prepared fresh food
- Regular sanitation and cleaning
- Use of mask, gloves and other equipment, as prescribed.
We transferred the food into microwave-safe containers and followed the heating manual from ITC Gourmet Couch. The food was very flavourful, as expected. We were happy to relish these unique Asian flavours from Shanghai Club after a gap of so many months!
From the mains, we ordered our Asian favourites. There was Gu Lao Xia (Prawns in sweet and sour sauce), Cong Bao Yang Rou (Beijing fried lamb tossed with onion and soy sauce) and Jinsuan Chao Fan (Golden garlic chicken fried rice). While the prawns were soft and succulent, the sauce was just right in terms of sweet and sour flavour balance. The Beijing Fried Lamb was a delight. Strips of soft lamb tasted great in a generous base of stir-fried onions and soy sauce. These two dishes were perfectly complemented with a light and flavourful fried rice called Jinsuan Chao Fan. The fried rice was simple, yet so comforting! We loved the “Gourmet Couch” Asian spread sent by Shanghai Kitchen at ITC Grand Central.
It is good that restaurants are finally reopening in Mumbai. But for those patrons who are not comfortable dining out yet, ITC Grand Central’s Gourmet Couch offers the same flavours at your doorstep! Home deliveries are done via Swiggy and Zomato.
