They say, in America, brunch is the most sacred meal of the day! Last Sunday, we had an opportunity to taste the fabulous Harley Davidson themed American-style brunch at Glasshouse, Hyatt Regency Mumbai. This brunch was in association with Seven Islands Mumbai. The menu emphasised on some of the popular American classics that are reminiscent of the biking culture, apart from other delightful global foods. The tantalising brunch spread also had a barbecue counter outdoors.
Apart from all that, well, who would like to miss a chance to network with serious bikers of the Harley Owners Group, Mumbai?
One Sunday each month, Glasshouse has a special theme brunch. As this month the theme was Harley Davidson, the Glasshouse reflected the macho and chic vibe everywhere. The décor was absolutely in tune with the theme. The serving staff looked great with the Harley Davidson themed outfits. There were gorgeous bikes displayed at the Glasshouse as well as at the entrance of Hyatt Regency Mumbai. Not only that, the guests could ride on any of the displayed bikes and could enjoy a virtual tour with special glasses. By the way, there were Harley Davidson themed cupcakes too!
There was a huge array of food. Someone told me that there were as many as 300 kinds of dishes in the brunch buffet. Apart from American delicacies, there were a lot of options from all corners of the world. There was a decent Indian section as well, with a good variety of Indian curries. Also, there was a Lebanese Bar. It had a huge mass of delicious Chicken Shawarma which kept grilling on a vertical rotating split. One could choose from Tahini sauce, garlic mayo, shredded Iceberg lettuce, onion and tomato, to go with the Shawarma. In the Mezze, there was Hummus, Baba Ganoush, Fattoush, Tabouleh, Zaataar, Labneh and white/brown Pita breads.
But the American classics definitely rocked the show. There were enough choices. For example, the Baked Potato Bar was equipped with crisp, baked potato halves, filled with different kinds of stuffings. We chose the crispy smoked bacon stuffing with chives sour cream. Or one could choose from other stuffings like Prawn Balchao, Achaari Murgh, Keema, Garlic tossed vegetable Aglio Olio, Pepperoncino or Mushroom Friccassee. The toppings included herb butter, chives sour cream and Parmesan cheese. There was this Vegetarian Quiche on my plate which I liked. The Proscuitto Ham with Figs, Parmesan Shavings and Walnut Dressing tasted great! The Prawn and Squid Salad with Thousand Island Dressing was another dish that I just loved to eat there.
At the Harley Davidson themed brunch at Hyatt Regency Mumbai, indulge in classic American delights or sometimes, even something less traditional as well. How can one have a hearty American brunch without a gooey Egg Benedict?
It’s almost a sin not to try those Norwegian smoked salmon slices served with cream-cheese herbed bagels or muffins. The perfectly poached eggs with salmon (or breakfast ham) and Hollandaise on English muffins made us smile. Perhaps, if this was not a food-tasting, we could have easily settled with just a happy plate of Egg Benedict! By the way, they also had Rye hard rolls and Pearl millet and multigrain bread, in case one doesn’t want to go for English muffins or Bagels.
There was a droolworthy Ceviche Bar, too! Raw fish lovers, do try the wonderful ceviches made with Sea bass, Red snapper, Salmon and Prawns. These were dressed with lemon-chilli, coriander sprigs, cucumber, red onions, olive oil and sea salt. Ask for their special house-made Chilli mayonnaise or yum salsas as accompaniments. There were tomato salsa, avocado salsa, pineapple salsa and roasted pepper salsa, to choose from.
The restaurant offers a range of delicious brunch options such as Hot Dogs. In the Hot Dog Bar, there are a variety of sausages to choose from. We preferred our Hot Dog with a plump pan-fried Chorizo, some caramelised onions and mango sauce tucked in. To make it saucier, we preferred some mustard sauce on top.
Sunday catch-ups with blogger friends is always fun! A big, cool crowd and big American brunch dishes, the Harley Davidson brunch has arrived in Mumbai! Glasshouse at Hyatt Regency Mumbai is definitely a go-to when it comes to relishing solid American food in Mumbai. While we loved the savouries, we were enamoured by the decent dessert spread, which we will talk about a bit later.
The French Seafood Thermidor was not quite interesting. We also had Swiss Älplermagrone or Alpler Macaroni, which was cooked with lots of milk and cheese. This Alpine Macaroni was yum!
There are good wines and great cocktails to try. This Ice Cream float based cocktail was a bit spicy, but still I didn’t quite like it. The other cocktail which I tried there was this drink, called Backseat Boogie. It was mild and had a sweet pink colour.
And I hope you will agree that this American Hamburger was the most foodgasmic of all!
Or perhaps, the pizzas were the most droolicious of all? Both the vegetarian and the non-vegetarian pizzas were good, though I preferred the Grilled Artichoke, Sundried Tomato and Arugula Pizzata over the Prawn, Squids and Chives Pizzata.
The Herb-Marinated Roast Chicken was mind-blowing. The chicken was juicy and slow-roasted, and so, very flavourful.
I also liked their Crisp-fried Calamari, Shepherd’s Pie and the Oat-Crusted Deep-Fried Jalapeños. The Meatballs were just okay, though.
The desserts were a colourful spread of happiness. We had a hard time deciding which ones to pick up and which ones to leave. Each dessert looked picture-perfect and inviting!
We polished off every last bite of the Stewed Plum with Red Wine Jelly. My favourites were the Raspberry Charlotte (with no added sugar) and the Mango and Coconut Pastry. The Churros tasted good, but were a bit soggy.
Love it or leave it? Well, when it comes to desserts, we are really weak in the knees! Not only these were beautiful to photograph, but these were wonderful to eat as well! This was definitely one of our best brunch experiences in Mumbai.
AN is still talking about this brunch one week later and I can’t wait to go back the next month for yet another themed brunch experience! For a chic, upscale brunch with something for the whole family, or for a lavish corporate brunch experience, head to Glasshouse at Grand Hyatt Mumbai. It’s grand, yet warm and homey enough. So are you ready for your own brunch experience here? Let the good times roll!
