Shanghai Club in Parel is one of our favourite Chinese restaurants in Mumbai. That’s because Shanghai Club in ITC Grand Central, Mumbai, continues to mesmerize me with good food that has been consistent throughout in terms of quality and quantity. Shanghai Club is celebrating Seafood Month, with amazing seafood delicacies customized as per your taste.
When it comes to seafood, freshness matters! Locally sourced fresh catch makes the menu even more appealing. Every evening at Shanghai Club, Chef Swanand Thipsay cooks up a storm with seafood such as crab, red snapper, prawn, octopus, pomfret and lobster. Each dish has its own charm. Each seafood preparation is mouthwatering and distinct from the next one. In this month-long seafood festival that started on 14th Jan 2021 and will culminate on 14th Feb 2021, great flavours, fresh seafood and #WeAssure safety protocols are affirmed. You can dine-in safely, relishing the best of seafood cooked in a variety of authentic Chinese preparations, under the expert supervision of Chef Swanand.
While we ordered the food, we sipped our favourite mocktails. The mocktail called Twisted is always a good start, with orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice and lime playing its tricks. We also ordered a cucumber-based mocktail that was quite light and refreshing.
In the Appetizers, we had Crispy Octopus in Guiyang Sauce, which was flawless. Young octopus meat has been used to make this dish. Bite-sized pieces of octopus have a crispy outer layer and a soft interior. The Guiyang sauce is spicy and slightly sweet, making the Crispy Octopus taste even better!
Sichuan-Style Crab is just perfect in terms of heat. Sichuan peppers and spring onions bring about lovely flavour in this dish. The umami of crabmeat is not unnecessarily masked with heavy sauces, but a gentle one, with the right spice notes!
The Ginger Capsicum, Burnt Garlic Fried Rice is always the right choice when you want to try out seafood dishes here. A very light fried rice with crispy burnt garlic goes well with most of the Chinese main-course dishes at Shanghai Club, ITC Grand Central, Mumbai. We love it with Jumbo Prawns in Hunan Sauce: another great dish with plump prawns coated with Hunan Sauce.
We ended the meal with a delectable, moist and soft Date and Walnut Pudding. The evening culminated with laughter, chitchat, some travel plans and good memories of an amazing seafood dinner. Seafood that ignites your palette and leaves you wanting for more: that’s what Seafood Month at Shanghai Club is all about!
